Lanny Bassham, the founder of Mental Management Systems, is the driving force behind the creation of the mental strategies presented in our personal training, seminars, and products. Lanny not only developed the Mental Management System but also used it personally to win 35 medals in international rifle competition for the USA, including 22 world individual and team titles, setting four world records and winning the Olympic Gold Medal in Montreal in 1976. He is ranked third in International medal count for the USA among all shooters. Lanny is a member of the USA Shooting Hall of Fame. For the past 39 years, Lanny has been teaching Mental Management® to Olympians, business owners, Fortune 500 Corporations and the elite of sport and business community.
Troy Bassham, Senior Master Instructor and Director of Junior Development. Troy is our primary instructor for high school and collegiate athletes. He works with players ages 13 and up. Troy has been teaching Mental Management since 1995 and has been working with competitive golfers since 2004. His main focus is helping players develop mental consistency during play, perform under pressure, build self-image of a winner, and training principles that focus on developing the mind and body at the same time. Troy’s clients have won local, state and national events using Mental Management. Troy has worked with hundreds of junior athletes with their mental game developing dozens of National Champions. Troy used Mental Management himself to win 12 National Championships, set four National Records and became the CISM World Champion. Troy provides one on one, small group and large group training options.
Brian Bassham, Director of Business and Education Applications. Brian heads up “What the Winners Know”, our newest addition to the Mental Management program, allowing us to provide Mental Management concepts to high schools and colleges. Brian spent more than 20 years in sales and corporate management utilizing Mental Management concepts to achieve corporate and educational goals at schools like DeVry University and Lincoln University of Technology. He oversees the development of curriculums for schools wishing to add Mental Management training as an elective to their program. Brian’s extensive experience in using Mental Management concepts in corporate management is an invaluable addition to our business and leadership programs.
Heather Sumlin, Director of Performance Programs, is a certified instructor in performance and dog sports. She is a certified instructor of Mental Management to pageant competitors and stage performers including the former Miss Texas, Shilah Phillips, First Runner Up to Miss America and Miss USA 2009, Kristen Dalton. Heather specializes in Mental Management training for subjectively judged sports and competitive outlets such as pageantry, stage performance, figure skating, and gymnastics. She is also our primary mental coach for dog handlers. She has been a mental coach for nine years. As the daughter of Lanny Bassham, the founder of Mental Management she has extensive knowledge of the system and is certified to teach it.
